Best Coffee In The World!

If you’re reading this article then you’re probably somewhat of a coffee connoisseur and are looking for the very best coffee! So, what is the best coffee in the world? Well that depends on your preferred taste profile. There are two in particular that are extremely special! Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and Kopi Luwak Coffee. We will discuss both in this article, but my favourite is Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee because it has an incredibly smooth taste.

Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee – Details

For a long time Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is often referred to as the Rolls Royce of Coffees, and considered by many as the best coffee in the world. It is sourced from, you guessed it, Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, and is generally associated with any one of 5 estates or origins. These 5 main estates are; Mavis Bank, Clifton Mount, Resource, Sherwood Forest and Whitfield Hall. The last three are commonly referred to as RSW Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.

Kopi Luwak Coffee – Details

Kopi Luwak Coffee is a coffee from the Philippines which has passed through the digestive system of wild Civet. This process is argued to produce the finest of flavours as the animals are incredibly selective about which fleshy coffee cherries they eat. Their digestive systems also break down the beans a little to produce shorter peptides and more free amino acids.
There has been some bad press for Kopi Luwak Coffee though as the high price has led to some unscrupulous people battery farming the coffee, which does not allow for natural selection of beans. Always look for coffee labelled wild or organic for authentic Kopi Luwak Coffee.

Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee – Taste

Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee has an incredibly smooth and mild profile. Its acidity is prominent yet smooth, and as a rule of thumb Jamaican Blue Mountain should be a clean taste with very little bitterness. In other words; Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is gorgeous!

Kopi Luwak Coffee – Taste

It is difficult to completely understand the flavour of a Kopi Luwak Coffee, as this name can be given to any bean that has passed through a civet’s digestive system. However, as mentioned, the Kopi Luwak process results in shorter peptides and more free amino acids. This lowers the acidity and body of the coffee. It has been remarked that this results in lifeless coffee, prized more for its rarity then its flavour!

So, what is the; Best Coffee in the World?

My favourite, by a long way, is Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Kopi Luwak is more of a gimmick aimed at people who just want a rare coffee, whilst Jamaican Blue Mountain is the real deal.
